Paul Eastham's RV-9A

9/30/2003

6 hours:Long and frustrating day trying to get the HS skeleton to fit the skin. The nose ribs were very difficult and a web search indicated that this is a common problem. After a lot of trial and error, some sanding and fluting, they barely go in. While struggling with them I have nicked the inside of the skin and the skin holes are probably enlarged. Then I built up the spar and ribs and could not get several of the ribs to fit at all. This is not a common problem. After much consideration I was able to fix one of them by disassembling everything and readjusting the skin seating in the jig. I need to try that again on the other side to try to fix the other rib. Very, very finnicky stuff...this was not fun at all.
