Paul Eastham's RV-9A

8 hours:Another full day in the airplane factory. I spent at least 3 of those hours countersinking the HS spars...slow and painstaking, a lot of adjusting of the jig, and something like 160 holes. I am probably still being overcautious but it took a lot of work to keep the angles right and the holes round.

Quite a mess after that was done:

After that I made a few final countersinks to the spar faces and splice plates.

Now I get to do it all over again! Before I can rivet anything on the left HS, the right side must be assembled, drilled, etc. This time I am going to try removing all the plastic between surfaces on the inside, in hopes of a better fit. After melting lines with a soldering iron, you need to pull the plastic off like this else it makes a mess:

Unfortunately the nose ribs on the right side are just as stubborn with the plastic off. Lots of crazy fluting will be in order again...
