Paul Eastham's RV-9A

11/7/2003

4 hours: The wing kit arrived! About 6 weeks ago, I estimated that I would be finishing the empennage kit right about now and ordered the wing kit. Of course I didn't know I would come down with the flu, nor get stuck for weeks at a time on minor problems. Hopefully that is all behind me.

Anyway, the kit is not as huge as you might imagine...the truck driver and I had no problems unloading it and moving it up the driveway with a hand-truck.

There are a LOT of ribs in the kit. This doesn't even show the cute little baby ribs for the ailerons and flaps.

Very nice, very heavy gold-anodized wing spars. This picture doesn't capture how shiny they are.

I actually got most of the kit unpacked even though lots of my parts storage is still in use for the remaining empennage items. All that's left in the big box are skins, and the long box has the two spars, center section, some really long aluminum angle, and that's about it.

Not shown: about a hundred little paper bags of rivets and small parts! Including almost a full pound of skin rivets, which IIRC amounts to several thousand rivets.
