Paul Eastham's RV-9A

11/12/2003

6 hours: Back-riveted all the rudder stiffeners to both skins. This went very well.

Then I assembled the rudder skeleton...it is a bit more complicated than the other skeletons with a counterbalance rib and skin, as well as a funky control arm setup at the bottom...

After that the skins can be dropped right on to each side. The structure has zero strength until you cleco on the trailing-edge angle, but then it becomes stiff as a board. I did all the match drilling on the skins and am ready to disassemble it.

I now have big blue airplane parts sitting all around the workshop. It is getting crowded.
