Paul Eastham's RV-9A

11/18/2003

2 hours: Didn't do much today except stare at my HS which continues to have holes that don't line up quite right. I was worried about these holes since the VS seemed to teach me that misaligned holes led to slightly imperfect rivets on the skin side. Fortunately, my coworker Bill, who originally got me thinking about building an airplane (after he finished his RV-6), came over in the evening and said all my rivets felt good to him. He says that if he could get the rivet in the hole he would just hit it. So I will give this a try tommorrow and see how it goes. There's not much else I can do anyway, there are very few things I can change nondestructively on the HS in its current state. Bill and I talked for a while and he gave me a bunch of other tips.

I also cleaned up the shop and organized things, finished smoothing all the elevator stiffeners, and got the elevator skins out and started thinking about how to hold those open while I work on them.

Shadow wasn't too thrilled with the lack of progress today either. He really likes to smell the new parts as they come out of the box and watch new things get built but today all he could do was use the wing spar box as a chin-rest.
