Paul Eastham's RV-9A

11/25/2003

6 hours: The HS is done for now. I fixed a few bad rivets, hit the final rib-to-spar rivets and assembled the hinge on the back. I will bolt it on tomorrow.

Here it is. I estimate it weighs 30 pounds...seemed pretty heavy until I measured it at almost 10 feet long. Storing it will be a bit of a challenge.

On to the elevators again, match-drilling the stiffeners to the skin. I am going to do the whole right elevator first since the left side is harder due to the trim tab.

Half way there....

As I was deburring all the holes I calculated that there are 216 holes per elevator, or 864 deburring operations per elevator (two on each side of the skin and stiffener). That's only for the stiffeners...there are also spars and ribs to add in there later. I guess that puts the total for both elevators above 2000.
