11/26/20037 hours: Two parts completed in one day...sounds impressive but it's not really. I squeezed on the rear spar of the VS. It was a bit tricky due to the rivets on the doubler being in the way, but I had a ground-down yoke that helped get in there.Torqued on the HS hinge bracket. This didn't fit as nicely as I would have liked...I'll have to ask Van's about that. After some recent threads on the email lists about corrosion developing under the protective plastic, I decided to remove it now that I am really done. This photo is a little blurry but you can see how shiny it is. I found one small "smiley" ding on the skin but none of the dreaded leading edge "pillowing" that some people have had trouble with. Look at all the fingerprints and scratches in the spots that weren't protected. VS, uncovered... To finish a few of the VS rivets I ground down my 3" yoke as well. I wish I had done this sooner, I could have squeezed a lot more big rivets with this mod. Dimpling elevator skins...someone online thought up the trick of putting the other side under the table. Otherwise you'd need help holding it open while hammering on the c-frame. Got started assembling the elevator counterweights.
