Paul Eastham's RV-9A

12/20/2003

4 hours: The elevator and rudder trailing edge is riveted in a "double flush" style, where the struck head of the rivet is formed into a dimple. It sounded pretty tricky but it wasn't that difficult, and the result is quite smooth. You might even confuse them for normal rivets if you didn't look real close.

These are the backs of the rivets. I tried to hit the first one (center) all the way into the dimple and managed to ding the skin. Fortunately this is on the underside of the elevator... Besides that they came out perfect.

After that, I riveted the trim tab hinge on, and the left elevator is complete!
